Evan Nemec leaves KTXS Abilene

Evan Nemec is leaving KTXS 12 Abilene as a morning anchor in July 2024 and calling it a TV career for now.

"I've been here for eight years, seven different sports, and then the past year has been the morning anchor," Nemec said in a release. "I'm most looking forward to telling the stories of the student-athletes and the coaches. I know that there are great personal stories out there. During the morning news show., I've missed getting out and talking with people and putting stories together on a regular basis. So I'm looking forward to getting back to storytelling because that's what my passion is."

Nemec has been named Abilene Christian University's Department of Athletics Assistant AD for Media Relations.

"We are thrilled to have Evan leading our media relations team," Sam Ferguson, associate vice president and deputy AD for revenue generation added. "He is a talented storyteller, is a hard worker, loves Abilene and knows ACU and more importantly, he is a man of faith who models Christian values. We are excited to welcome all of the Nemec's to the Wildcat community."

Nemec recently took on morning anchor duties for KTXS 12 in July 2023.

He joined KTXS in 2016 as a sports reporter/anchor and was later promoted to sports director in 2018.

The University of North Texas grad interned with CBS 11 KTVT Dallas-Fort Worth (AKA CBS News Texas).  He worked for the school's 88.1 KNTU as everything from sports anchor and news director to sports director.
