Former KSAT sports anchor gets probation

The Express-News reports that Greg Simmons, a former KSAT San Antonio sports anchor, received a 12-month probation and a $500 fine after pleading no contest to his DWI charge.

The longtime KSAT 12 sports director was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in January 2023.

He resigned the following week of the arrest.

"For the past 42 years, I have had the honor of working with the best in the business while sharing my passion for sports and our community with all of you," Simmons said in a statement posted on the KSAT website when he resigned.   "I am overwhelmed and humbled by the love and support from family, friends and viewers in light of recent events. I have resigned from my role as Sports Director at KSAT 12. I am grateful for the opportunity this brings to focus on my health and wellness, and what the future will bring."

Simmons had been with KSAT since 1980.
