Steven Cavazos to leave KSAT 12 San Antonio

Steven Cavazos is leaving his KSAT 12 San Antonio morning traffic anchor/reporter role.

Here is what Cavazos posted on Facebook:

"I wanted to share with you that this will be my last full month with KSAT, and after much prayer, I’ve decided to step away from TV news.

For the last year, I contemplated my future within the news industry. I wondered ‘what more could I do’ and realized, I have done everything I wanted to. My heart is full, and it’s time to move on.

I have been lucky to work in almost every role a news department can offer. From behind the scenes, to behind the desk, life has come full circle!

Let me just say, I am filled with so much appreciation for this experience. God has blessed me with the fortune to work in South Texas; a place I was born and raised. Thank you all for embracing me over the years. It has been my greatest privilege to keep you informed.

While the road is coming to an end, it’s not over yet! My last day on air is Wednesday, December 6.

I’ll share what’s next at some point down the line. However, for now let’s finish this next month off on a high note! God bless you all and much love."

Cavazos joined KSAT as a multimedia journalist (MMJ) in September 2019.

In May of 2021, he became the station's morning traffic anchor, replacing Samuel King

Before joining KSAT, Cavazos was a reporter for KIII 3 News Corpus Christi for three years starting in 2016.

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley grad was also a CBS 4 News Rio Grande Valley KGBT production assistant and staff writer for the Valley Morning Star.

Announced at the same time as Cavazos' exit was the departure of KSAT morning reporter Jonathan Cotto.
