Ashley Carter left KCEN 6 Waco/Temple/Killeen in July 2023 where she was a meteorologist.
Here is what Carter posted on Facebook a few weeks ago:
"Well I have put it off for long enough but now it’s time to announce that tomorrow will be my last day with 6news. I won’t go into details right now (so please do not ask) about why I’ve come to this decision, but know at this point in my life it is best for me to pursue other passions outside of news. I know ultimately I will be fulfilling the purpose God has on my life, so I feel nothing but peace as I close this chapter."
She took over for Jordan Darensbourg who left for TEGNA sister-station KVUE Austin.
Carter, along with then anchors Taheshah Moise and Jasmin Caldwell were featured by NBC News Now for being the first Black female anchor news team in the country.
The Arlington native, returned to Texas at KCEN in April 2022 from WAAY 31 Huntsville, Alabama where she had been since June 2019 as weekend weather anchor/reporter.
The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University Cum Laude grad started professional in televison news as a digital media assistant for Arizona PBS 8 KAET.
Jordan Frazier, the KCEN weekend meteorologist, is apparently working weekday mornings to fill Carter's position.
And speaking of Darensbourg, he returned to KCEN from KVUE to fill in on evenings for Andy Andersen who left the Central Texas station in June.
