Here is a portion of what Walker posted on social media:

"I accepted a wonderful opportunity, which will allow me to stay here in Houston and tell stories in a different capacity. I am ecstatic about what the future holds.

As I reflect on my time here, I can’t help be proud of my personal and professional evolution; from being an example that natural hair is professional, to using my voice to amplify yours and advocate for marginalized communities and groups.

Some of the stories I take the most pride in are the ones in which I’ve been able to get results for you all and hold people accountable, like when people showed up to unscrupulous pop-up COVID testing sites during the peak of the pandemic seeking results in a timely manner, which wasn’t the case. That story received an Emmy nomination. Or when homeowners in reached out asking us to hold their trash company accountable for widespread inconsistent service. Or when I was able to get refunds for women who traveled from out of state for a pricey hair appointment only to find out they were scammed. And how can I forget the tales of the roaming tigers, the murder trial that ensued and my visit to the wildlife sanctuary to see them in person.

Houston, thank you for inviting me into your homes and for entrusting me to tell your stories, especially during the most vulnerable times in your lives."

Walker joined KPRC 2 in 2018 from KMBC 9 Kansas City, Missouri.

She previously worked as a reporter for WCHS 8 Charleston Charleston, West Virginia and KOTA Territory TV Rapid City, South Dakota.

The Clark Atlanta University grad and Syracuse University master's degree earner interned with NBC Nightly News.
