Syan Rhodes is joining the office of Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner Lesley Briones after leaving KPRC 2 as a longtime weekend anchor and reporter.
"I'm excited to announce my new position as Press Secretary for Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner Lesley Briones," Rhodes posted on LinkedIn.
Rhodes, who I blogged had been off-air for around a month, returned to work on Easter Sunday and announced it was her last week as a KPRC 2 Houston weekend anchor.
She explained on social the very special reason she has been off:
"First, thank you to everyone who wrote emails, comments, texted, and called wondering where I was the last 4 weeks. I appreciate your concern and well wishes, but I was on leave for a really good reason!
I recently became a licensed foster parent and the first call about a child in need came much sooner than I anticipated. I took time off to get acquainted with the little one and settled as we begin a new journey together. It has been a whirlwind and an already life-changing experience and my family and I are so honored to be able to love and provide a safe place for this special child.
However this is not the only new path I am charting.
I have decided to leave KPRC 2 News and this is my last week.
It has been a blessing to come back to my hometown and serve my community as an advocate for truth and a voice for the voiceless.
I am forever grateful for how you have embraced me and supported me for nearly 9 years, welcoming me into your homes, literally and figuratively, to tell stories that matter."
Congrats to Rhodes. What a great thing she is doing.
