Ariel Rivera-Vázquez promoted at Telemundo 60 San Antonio


Ariel Rivera-Vázquez has been promoted to chief meteorologist of Telemundo 60 KVDA San Antonio.

"We are honored to have Ariel as our chief meteorologist, he has a strong commitment to maintaining our community well informed, not only during breaking weather events, but every day looking for information that is relevant and interesting to our viewers," Said Delines Alonso, Vice-president of News for Telemundo 60.

The station says his leadership and experience contributed to the success of “La Autoridad en El Tiempo” to be named most accurate weather forecast in San Antonio for four years in a row according to WeatheRate.

Rivera-Vázquez joined Telemundo 60 in May 2017. He earned her certificate in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University in September 2020.

Prior to joining Noticias 60 Telemundo, Rivera-Vázquez was a weather presenter for Telemundo Denver. He also worked as a weather presenter/traffic reporter for WAPA San Juan, Puerto Rico. He also worked as a news anchor for Sistema TV, the Puerto Rican station affiliated with the Public Broadcast System (PBS) from 2009 to 2015. 

Besides TV, Rivera-Vázquez worked as a radio host for stations like La Mega 106.9 FM and Radio Puerto Rico 740 AM.

He has more than 20 years of experience in the broadcast industry and has been recognized with several awards, including Best Weather Forecaster in 2017 by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Heartland Chapter.
