Burns married husband and professional basketball player, Karon Bradley, in August of 2022 and he is the reason for her Houston move.
"My husband is a Houstonian through and through," Burns told KPRC2+ 8am digital anchor Zach Lashway. "Like, I've never met anyone who loves their hometown as much as him. So I'm here now with him, and I'm so happy.
"And we're truly newlyweds because I was working in Virginia after we got married in August for about six months. And then I moved here in January."
Burns compares her relationship with Bradley to the film "Love & Basketball."
"So, yeah, we met in college," Burns explained. "We both played basketball at Wichita State University, and he was on the men's team. Obviously I was on the women's team, and we we started dating and it started that way."
Bradley, a Cy-Springs High School grad, was on the 2003 Marquette University team which earned a spot in the Final Four of the NCAA tournament. He transferred to Wichita State University in 2006. After graduation in 2007, Bradley played pro basketball overseas.
In addition to her CBS 6 Richmond duties, Burns also anchored sister-station DCW50 WDCW's News at 10PM from 2016 too 2018. In 2015, Burns helped launch CBS6 Problem Solvers which earned her an EMMY award in 2020.
Burns previously was a weekend morning anchor/reporter for ABC12 WJRT Flint, Michigan.
She is a native of Saginaw, Michigan.
