UPDATE DECEMBER 2022
Alicia Barrera leaves KSAT 12 for DFW TV

Here is part of what Gomez posted on social media:

"I am so thankful for the opportunity, the experiences and the great friends I made along the way. It has been an exciting journey, I will always be thankful for the opportunity to return to my home state and be closer to my family during a time of so much uncertainty.

These past couple of years have been a dream come true. Getting to co anchor with Ernie Zuniga, a pillar in the community and a titan in journalism. He was also the partner I could always ask to help me figure out how to pronounce certain words, locations or names. The nicest/busiest guy in the world.

Brad Sowder a Meteorologist with an insatiable appetite for knowledge, who you can always count on for an answer to any technical or scientific questions.

A big thank you to the team behind the cameras who sacrifice, family time, holidays, weekends and even sleep to be able to keep the community well informed. You became my family away from home."

Gomez did not explain what her next job when she left FOX 29, but did write, "This is not a good bye, solamente hasta pronto mi San Antonio! Los quiero mucho."

Prior to her return to San Antonio TV to take over for Breanna Barrs, Gomez was a weekend anchor/reporter for KXTV ABC10 Sacramento, California.

Before KXTV, Gomez was a multi-media journalist (MMJ) for ABC7 KABC Los Angeles.

Gomez was in Texas before that, working as an MMJ for KSAT 12's "SA Live."

She also worked for Telemundo 60 San Antonio KVDA as a reporter where she helped launch the station's 5 and 10pm newscasts.

The University of Texas at Arlington grad got her start with Telemundo 39 Dallas KXTX as a freelance editor/production assistant.
