Kaitlin Monte leaves FOX 26 Houston

Kaitlin Monte

Kaitlin Monte left her FOX 26 KRIV Houston evening anchor position mikemcguff.com confirmed with the station.  In August 2022, Monte joined the Wounded Warrior Project as a Senior Public Relations Specialist.

Caroline Collins joins FOX 26 Houston

My readers tell me that Monte had not been on the air since early June.

Her last tweet was.

So this proves that I am only correct like 98% of the time when it comes to Houston TV (this is a joke by the way).  I thought she was just on vacation although as time went by, it became obvious that probably wasn't the case. My readers knew better.

Many times when people contact me about the whereabouts of an anchor, they are really just on a long vacation.  Guess I have become numb to this.

Monte joined FOX 26 Houston in July 2016 from “PIX11 Morning News” WPIX New York where she was a traffic anchor, fill-in anchor and feature reporter.

At first, Monte was a KRIV general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor.  She was later promoted to the 5pm and 9pm show co-anchor and launched  “The News Edge at 10pm" in 2017 and "The NewsEdge Early Edition” at 6pm in 2020.

All at the same time, Monte has given birth to three children since coming to Houston.

Before Houston, Monte also did hosting work for SNY's "Mets Insider", BBC New York and "Weekend Today in New York" on NBC 4 WNBC.

Outside of TV, the Clarkson University grad has toured the country with the United Services Organization (USO).

Monte was the Second Runner-Up in the 2011 Miss America competition.

OK...I've already been wrong about Monte's whereabouts, but I will make another guess and gamble I can improve my batting average around here.  I have always thought that Monte would end up back on New York TV and Houston was just a quick stop in her TV career. We have seen this before with other anchors.  Will I be right?  NOPE. Turned out I was wrong.
