FOX 26 KRIV launches "The News Edge at 10pm"
We knew FOX 26 anchor Melinda Spaulding was leaving the station. Now we know who is taking over her anchor chair.
It's Kaitlin Monte.
Spaulding posted the news on Facebook:
I couldn't ask for a better way to pass the baton on the anchor desk!! Congratulations to Kaitlin Monte FOX26 on her new evening anchor role with Jonathan Martin Fox26. She's not my replacement. She's a newsroom professional who will make her own mark in this role. I was promoted from within the ranks, just like Kaitlin. It takes judgment, talent, spunk and sometimes a little body armor to rise in our business. She's got plenty! I know that Jonathan and Kaitlin will make a great team.
And now, I can finally share my last day: Friday, August 18th. . Please join me in congratulating Kaitlin!!!
Last April, when I wasn't posting, Spaulding posted she was leaving the FOX owned and operated station. At the time, I covered it on my Facebook page.
So to keep this blog updated, here is what she posted then:
“TO EVERYTHING THERE IS A SEASON….”
Hi friends,
I just wanted to let you know that I’m giving myself a much needed schedule change… as I embark on a new season in my life.
After a lot of thought, prayer and consideration, I’m stepping away from the evening anchor desk at Fox 26. This is my 20th year in media (12 1/2 years at Fox 26), and it’s time to make a shift for me… and most importantly for my family!!!
You’ve been there for me from my single girl days, to my wedding and the birth of my two children. Now it’s time for me to be there for homework, dinner and bedtime. My daughter and son are now 7 and 5… and I don’t want to miss another moment!
My bosses at Fox 26 have been amazing throughout this process (even though they were a bit surprised). And we’re working together to explore ways that I can remain a part of the Fox 26 family.
But I’m not going away just yet! I’ll be working here in Houston to help transition my replacement. I know you’ll be as welcoming to that person as you were to me when I joined the team.
Soooo… no goodbyes for now. Just a “heads up” between friends about what’s next for me.
I appreciate you more than you’ll ever know!!
