Here is a portion of what Correa posted on Facebook:

"In using every possible ounce of courage, I've made the incredibly emotional and difficult decision to walk away from television news, for now.

Your friendship, advice, support, wisdom and love has carried me through these last 7 years in Houston. The community built here on Facebook is truly the beautiful and compassionate gift I didn't know I needed or deserved.

Gratitude for each of you will come during the next week. I haven't yet begun to peel back the emotional layers of what this network has meant to me and what I'd like to share with you, in appreciation.

I've accepted a position as a Speechwriter for a department within the City of Houston. Writing, as you may know, is my happy place. The work will provide me with the flexibility and time to explore and experience new adventures."

Correa's last day of reporting for KHOU is August 3, 2022.

The job with channel 11 was a return to Houston for Correa who is a University of Houston graduate.

Correa returned to Houston and joined KHOU in December 2015 from KRGV Channel 5 News Rio Grande Valley where she was a reporter/anchor.

She previously worked for WWBT NBC12 Richmond, Virginia as a reporter/fill-in anchor and CBS7 KOSA Midland-Odessa as a reporter/anchor.

The Weslaco native has been awarded multiple EMMY and four regional Edward R. Murrow awards.
