Sharon Ko told her San Antonio TV viewers Friday, in a tearful goodbye, this would be her last time anchoring evenings at KENS 5.
Here is a transcript of what Ko said on air:
"What will also last a lifetime are my memories of KENS 5. As this marks my last newscast, I want to thank you, the viewers, for your support.
You have always reminded me why the power of community matters and why we will always be stronger together. Thank you to the people who have come before me. And those still here at KENS 5, you will always be my family.
I'm not going to cry. The lashes are going to come off and it's not going to be pretty.
San Antonio will remain my home and I'm walking away with a heart full of gratitude. And I hope I served you all well. Thank you."
