George Baches award for excellence in broadcast marketing call for entries

Beginning in 2019, the Texas Radio Hall of Fame will recognize and honor those members of the broadcast community whose creativity and art amplify and fortify the work of those on both sides of the microphone. The work of these essential professionals often comes to life in the form of promos, imaging, contests, sweepstakes and events as well as in traditional media such as billboards, TV commercials, and print ads that promote the station’s programming and personalities.

This spotlight will also call to mind the esoteric media that complements the on air product, such as websites, logos, mascots, newsletters, email communications, and marketing materials.

The award category will embrace virtually all static (“non-live”) executions of verbal and non-verbal messaging, including audio, video, display and online.

The Texas Radio Hall of Fame, following an overture by a number of its inductees, will name this annual award after George Baches. For over 20 years, Baches’ work supported the branding and visual imaging of dozens of Texas broadcasters and his legacy serves as a reminder that the creation and perpetuation of “station-ality”-- the “stuff between the records”--is magnified by the art that adorns everything from bumper stickers to t-shirts and countless other display and marketing platforms.

As both an independent contractor and an agency team member, this talented graphic artist, among other broadcast-related projects, brought new life and international acclaim to KLOL’s Runaway Radio logo in Houston and the KISS-FM logo in San Antonio. He was also responsible for the creation of the Outlaw Radio and Houston’s Rock 103.7 FM logos, along with countless t-shirts, premiums and marketing materials.

The Texas Radio Hall of Fame is pleased to introduce its inaugural George Baches Award for Excellence in Broadcast Marketing Excellence, with a call for entries in 2019, to honor the memory, talent and contributions of George Baches, along with those who serve this important need in the radio industry.
