Houston media celebs out in full force at Cirque du Soleil's OVO
Cirque du Soleil was kind enough to provide me tickets Wednesday night (through my blog in full disclosure) to its latest show playing in Houston called OVO. You can catch OVO under the Grand Chapiteau at Sam Houston Race Park now through April 10th.
It is classic Cirque. You'll see some amazing performers do things, that if this were a movie, would require CGI to pull off. However I must admit, the wife and I enjoyed some of the previous Cirque shows that rolled into Houston a bit more. Here is more info on the show
Since this was a media preview night, I saw a ton of Houston's broadcasting finest out in full force. This is the part where I pretend to be former Houston Chronicle society columnist Shelby Hodge. I personally talked with Michael Garfield "The High Tech Texan," Fox 26 KRIV "My Tech Guy" Doug Delony and Mix 96.5's Dave Morales.
In the crowd I spotted KPRC 2 morning anchor Owen Conflenti, KIAH 39's Maggie Flecknoe, Houston 55 KTBU's Lara Bell and Hot 95.7 KKHH's Kelly Kelly.
While not in broadcasting, but no less of a celeb, I got to quickly chat with Ed Schipul, the namesake of Schipul - The Web Marketing Company.
I'm exhausted now. I belong in front of a computer, not out trying to spot Houston's glitterati! After writing this blog for a few years, who knows if these people want to hug me or just punch me in the face?
UPDATE: To prove why I am know Shelby Hodge, Mike Glenn of the Houston Chronicle writes in to say he was there too!
Travis Herzog emailed and says he was not there as I originally blogged. He must have a doppelgänger out there. If he ever needs a stand-in, he should find this guy! Or maybe I need glasses. CONTACT: Leave me a Houston or Texas media news tip | COMMENT: Click to leave your thoughts on this post here
