Shirt-vertising Luxurata - They rock!

Last week I unleashed my Shirt-vertising concept on the world. That's where we take Michael Lukaszewskyj, aka Skyj (pronounced Skee) and put him in a free shirt. Why? To promote whomever sent us the shirt. You still ask why? Skyj likes to wear free t-shirts so we're really just trying to help a friend out.

This week we got a shirt from Luxurata. Luxurata is an awesome Houston-based band made of guys who have previously been in other cool local bands:
Luxurata was formed in the spring of 2002 and consisted of long time musical collaborators Mike Porterfield (vocals & bass) and Brian Schack (guitar), Dave Darby (drums, formerly of Ruskabank) and James Supak (guitar). The original line up changed in 2004 with the departure of James Supak and the addition of guitarist Dave Billingsley (formerly Lima Sugar). The diverse musical background of its members comes together in the unique alt-pop/indie rock sound of the band. Compositions range from sonic guitar rock to delicate melodies. This is captured in the bands first E.P. "Astronomy for Beginners" and can be seen at their regional live shows. Luxurata plans to record its follow up soon, as well as playing a multitude of live shows in a club near you.
Luxurata sounds like a cross between the Doves, Coldplay, Interpol, U2 and The Cure. I've actually seen them in concert and I have to agree. If you go see them play live, you will have a good time. Go listen to their songs now on myspace:

If you would like Skyj to Shirt-vertise for you on the mikemcguff blog click here to send us an XL t-shirt. Remember, no money exchanges hands. This is really starting to look like a poor business model for an Internet startup in the late 90s!
