The Texas-based legal public relations and marketing firm Androvett Legal Media & Marketing is proud to announce the addition of Kit Frieden, formerly the Health & Science Editor for The Associated Press (AP) in New York.

Ms. Frieden, who joins Androvett’s Houston office, is returning to the city where she worked for nine years as State Editor for the Houston Chronicle before joining AP in 2001.

“I am thrilled to be returning to Texas and joining Androvett, a dynamic firm that works with some of the best lawyers and law firms in the country,” says Ms. Frieden. “The firm’s clients have terrific stories to tell.”

A longtime Texas journalist, Ms. Frieden moved to New York in 2001 to work as Assistant Newsfeatures Editor for AP, where she directed medical and science features and enterprise stories. Four years later, she took on a larger role, managing AP’s daily science and health coverage worldwide. She established the first science desk for AP, the world’s oldest news organization, expanding its team of science writers and overseeing stories that included climate change, space flight, global disease outbreaks and medical breakthroughs. Her work earned her the Gramling Journalism Award, one of AP’s highest honors.

“We are very excited that Kit has joined our team,” says Mike Androvett, CEO and founder of the Dallas-based company. “Her experience in handling major national and international stories will benefit our company and all our clients.”

In addition to her years at the Houston Chronicle, where she oversaw coverage of the tragic fire at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco and state politics during former Gov. George W. Bush’s tenure, Ms. Frieden also worked for Dallas Life, the Sunday magazine previously published by The Dallas Morning News, and as Texas news editor for AP.

Androvett Legal Media & Marketing assists attorneys and law firms with public relations, crisis communications, marketing and advertising. The firm maintains offices in Dallas and Houston.
