Walton and Johnson to KPRC AM 950 replacing Joe Pags

Walton and Johnson returning to Houston radio...again

Walton and Johnson
Walton and Johnson
Well I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict that ousted 93.7 The Arrow KKRW morning team Walton and Johnson will return to Clear Channel Houston at the newly re-branded KPRC AM 950.

Earlier this afternoon, I posted that longtime San Antonio based 950am morning man Joe Pags was parting ways with his Houston show.

Now the Walton and Johnson Facebook page says the show is returning Tuesday at 5:30am in Houston. It just so happens that all of KPRC's online sites say tune in Tuesday at 5:30am to hear a new show. Coincidence?

Now most people know that Walton and Johnson broadcast from Houston to a bunch of different radio stations in the region. Since December 2012, when they were let go from 93.7 The Arrow, they've still been living in broadcasting from Houston to the other cities, just not to a local station. From what I understand, they were still even broadcasting from Clear Channel Houston under a lease agreement.

So now the two are probably returning to their home pre-Arrow which was 950 KPRC. When the longtime morning duo showed up on KPRC in 2007, the station even totally re-branded to the 9-5-0 Radio Mojo. It's ironic that now the duo is returning, the station just re-branded to KPRC AM 950 last month.

    2. I agree this is total Bullshit...Joe Pags was great. Why would they even think to replace him?

    3. Two overly flamboyant rednecks talking crap!! What a wonderful replacement. Step one in becoming a trashy unintelligent radio station!

    4. SO TRUE! The 950 has made a BIG Mistake! Pags has a big VOID that can't be filled. I don't listen to the 950 anymore.

    5. good bye, pags don't let the door hit you in the ass when you go back to the rock you crawled from under "new York". you have been owned! lol. was it ramon or james that told you to knock that shit off in the Houston market, first year I remember. I do love ya like a bother. oh and the Michael berry sho is still on. just so you know. late.

  2. Will miss Joe and James. Who wants to wake up to bad gay, redneck jokes in the morning?

  3. How the hell do these guys keep resurfacing? I tolerated them early on, but they turned into fear mongering, anger inducing DJs that shouldn't have a place in radio. I lost all respect when they started calling themselves the radio gods. There is only one show in Houston history that deserves that title.

    2. Hey wait a minute, I'm a redneck on the outskirts and these two make me want to chum the fishin' hole.

I've long switched around from one talky station to the next on an hour long morning commute and it's only taken a day or two to leave these morons off of the circuit in my ride.

  6. I tried to listen to W&J when they were on 93.7 but never got comfortable with their format. Bring back Joe Pags to Houston!! I couldn't believe he was off the air this morning and as soon as I heard the W&J show, I had to change the station. Bring Joe back, bring Joe back!!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Just another forced change....by "those who know" whats best for their ratings?

    ReplyDelete
  8. What! Who is their audience? Certainly not people who listened to Joe. Mindless hick blubbering. You lost me on the morning commute.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Ugghh... Joe Pags was the only reason I began listening to 950. I was highly disappointed by the replacements this morning. The new guys don't come to Joe and James. The only show I listen to now is Janine Turner. Sad, sad day...

  10. The 950 has screwed up once again. I can't stand Walton & Johnson. Now I have to reset my preset to get rid of the junk being forced down our throats. Hoe the 950 fails at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  11. You switched Joe Pags for Walton and Johnson??!! Are you guys stupid?? You just lost another listener....

    ReplyDelete
  12. Great Day!!!! Love WJ - Amazing how excited I was to hear they were back. Houston traffic won't bother me now!!! Love the show. Good luck to Joe & James but thank goodness for radio gods!!!!

  13. i can not believe you replaced joe pags with that trash walton and jonson. i have hundreds of friends who feel the same way. will not be tuning into your station in until they are gone. lets me know where the managment minds are gross.

    1. LEt them know to contact the station and ask KPRC or Clear Channel to bring Joe back to the air. The more people get involved in this effort, the sooner we can get Joe back on the air.

  14. Like Walter and Johnson but can stand to listen to Janine Turner. She does that nervous laugh and when she tries to talk has to stutter when she is trying to get her first word out. She is not meant for radio.

    ReplyDelete
  15. another listener lost!!!!!!!!!! I'm back to 740 !

    ReplyDelete

    1. Considering both AM 740 and 950 have the same ownership I don't think they mind much. *shrug*

  16. KPRC has made the worst change possible.... His entire listernership is totally upset and the response has been overwhelming to say the least. Many Many listeners have already dropped KPRC from their presets and radio dials. They are slowly losing listernship over this. Joe has a fan base of 71,800 and no telling the percentage of those who are listeners.

    ReplyDelete
  17. If you are upset about losing Joe Pags, then voice your disgust by contacting KPRC. If Joe's entire fanbase were to blitz the station by daily emails, phone calls, or daily posts to the station's facebook, that would grab their attention and maybe get Joe back on the air here in Houston.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Piss on joe pags. That glenn beck acolyte is a complete douche bag. It is good to have w&j back on am.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I still was wishing that Bob and Tom (out of Indianapolis) can be heard instead on AM 950.

    1. I was hoping for them to be on 93.7 The Arrow.

J.C. Corocan is just plain horrible.

  20. How could KPRC be this STUPID??? First they put on the far-too-green Janine Turner, who simply is not ready to appear on a big city radio station (maybe she'll be ready in another 5-10 years…maybe), THEN they ditch JOE PAGS for goofy redneck humor??? A DISGRACEFUL and NONPROFESSIONAL MOVE there, guys! (And you've certainly THRILLED a lot of Texas liberals by getting rid of Joe Pags. Way to go!)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Goodbye KPRC, Hello Michael Berry! Thank God for IHeart radio that enables me to continue listening to Joe Pags.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I guess I will go back to ESPN on 97.5. This station as pretty much lost me a consumer. Who ever is making the choices on the hosts need to understand that you lost my radio.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Way to go Numb Nutz. Bring pags back b4 your entire fan base goes to 740. Walton and Johnson have about as many followers ans MSNBC

    ReplyDelete
  24. I listened to them for about 2 minutes and flipped to another station. They were the most stupid, idiotic and boring people I ever heard on the radio. 950, you should beg Pags to come back.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well they lost me.. W&J are terrible..

    ReplyDelete
  26. I loved Pags! Where did he go?? I can't stand to listen to W&J - big mistake by the station.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I have been a loyal 950 listener for a long time, but I will not be any longer. Joe Pags was fantastic and Walton and Johnson can not hold a candle to him.
I have switched to 740 for my drive in in the morning and afternoon.
Judging from the comments being made, not sure that this was a good move on the 950 part!

    1. I have been a listener of KPRC on my way to work every day for a very long time.... but no more... I love Joe Pags and I adore James and now I will not be listening to KPRC anymore.... I was very surprised to find Joe Pags on 740 this morning as I was driving to work, I was so excited then He said he was only filling in for Matt Patrick and I was so sad. PUT JOE PAGS AND JAMES BACK ON!!!!!!

  28. Clear Channel owns both 950 and 740. By getting rid of Joe Pags, a conservative talker on 950, the company is most likely trying to boost 740's Matt Patrick's ratings.

W&J and Matt Patrick will not compete with each other. In fact this move probably boosts the audience for both 950 and 740.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Can't stand Matt Patrick either...turning to FM...guess Joe Pags was too conservative for Michael Berry's liking...he was the BEST host on Houston Radio!!!

  29. Someone at KPRC got a bag of bad weed. These guys are like a bad viral infection. They are about as entertaining as a wet fart. Laugh once and then it gets old REAL QUICK

  30. This station is complete garbage now, JP was the last great thing, now Micheal berry is gone, and Janine Turner is a joke. The Michael Garfield show is crap, and outlaw dave show? Junk! This is the type of crap you hear on the AM dial in California, liberal crap, that does nothing but corrupt your mind!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Pags was occasionally tedious, so some change might be welcome. But we seem to want to pick the lowest level practical. To KPRC, why don't we just broadcast Hee-Haw reruns?

    ReplyDelete
  32. OK, I thought maybe Pags was on vacation, but after so many days of these guys, I figured it out. Aside from Matt Patrick in the afternoon, I won't be listening to KPRC. While I had weaned myself off Joe Pags a year or so ago (he got too big for his britches), I did stop in sometimes on my ride in (an hour) - James had gotten to be interesting.
W & J have never had my attention.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I miss Joe Pags. Tried the other guys but was not enticed in the least. Please reconsider Clear-Channel. Why was JP let go anyway?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Joe was the reason I began listening to 950 and his departure will be the reason I quit listening.

    ReplyDelete
  35. How could KPRC be so stupid !!! Joe Pags and James were the best radio hosts you have ever had...I will find another radio station to listen to while I am driving to work every morning>>>

    ReplyDelete
  36. Joe was was a rude man to the people who called him!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Very bad move made by AM 950. Joe Pags was the only good thing they had. Is Joe Pags on in the morning in San Antonio 1200 WOAI? I heart radio can pick it up. As for Walton and Johnson... Pags should say "GET OFF MY RADIO!" instead if get off my phone. I will miss listening to those racist crazy liberals like Larry the racist and Mike the liberal calling into Pags. Pags always put them in their place.

    ReplyDelete
  38. this is totally not what I'm looking for in the morning talk show bring back pags because you definitely have lost my ear this is the kind of morning show that you should be hearing on Sirius radio when someone can pay for what they want and those who want to hear real talk radio come to the job pack show whoever's in upper management I just want you to know I think you've lost your mo Jo

    ReplyDelete
  39. I think the best I can hope for is that 950 goes bankrupt financially. It is already bankrupt as entertainment.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I have never made a comment regarding radio programs but what were you thinking? Joe was the only thing keeping me listing to AM radio for my commute. I tried to listen W&J. What total garbage. I am searching out Joe even if I have to go to pay radio.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Well it's a good thing that iheart radio brings in San Antonio WOAI. I can still listen to Joe Pags there.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Bring Joe Pags back. The two guys on in the moring need to be on a rock station or something. Beaumont is better than what you have now. Fix it please.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Huh? In the "moring?" Is that a mooring missing a "o?" Or, is a morning missing an "n?" Or, is a mourning missing a "u" and an "n?"

  43. you should have kept Joe Pags.

    ReplyDelete
  44. When you listen to AM radio for the first time you might think that you're informed. It's a complete circus. Joe Pags is as ridiculous as Walton and Johnson. That's what arbitron and all of those markets just thought of you Houston. Just turn this slime off. Get an audio book, listen to that every time you drive into your job. Having clearchannel pumped into your cranium is like getting bamboo shoots stuck under your fingernails before you need to do you yard excercise. Good luck out there.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yeah, those AM guys are idiots. Just get an audio book of something good like a Steve Jobs biography or an oprah recommended book. That is where you will get real knowledge and wisdom. And don't forget to throw in some Eckhart Tolle. Be hip and cool like anonymous here at 1:55 am.

      Delete
    2. Pags was a loser. I listed to him once and never listed again. In the 30 minutes or so that I listed, an old lady called up, likely not having her full faculties, and he just mocked her. Sorry, but mocking poor old people is not my idea of entertainment. But I see there are a bunch of people on here who like that kind of thing..

    3. Is that "listed" to the right or "listed" to the left?
