Susan O’Donnell leaves 89.3 KSBJ

89.3 KSBJ loses morning show host Susan O’Donnell

UPDATED FEBRUARY 05, 2014
Susan O’Donnell lands at 89.5 KVNE Tyler after 89.3 KSBJ

Susan O’Donnell, 89.3 KSBJ morning show host and station program director, has announced she is leaving the Houston Contemporary Christian Music radio station.

The station issued the following message this morning:

Dear KSBJ Family,
We are saddened to announce that Susan O’Donnell has decided that her season at KSBJ has come to an end. While she will be missed dearly, we are grateful for her many years of dedication and service. And, we believe that God is stirring new things in Susan and has a great plan for her future.
Your prayers during this transition are greatly encouraged and appreciated. Thank you for your continued support.

Splitting her time between two demanding radio jobs, O’Donnell had left the morning show in July 2011 to concentrate on PD duties. Then later returned to the show and still held program director responsibilities. O'Donnell's morning replacement, Coppelia Rivera, moved to afternoons.

Bill Maier is the only KSBJ morning host listed on the station's site right now.

Yesterday, KSBJ announced it had a new website and a press release was issued this week about the station getting satellite transmission capability presumably for the national launch of NGEN.

    2. You know it's comments like that, that make you want to get physical with people! And I'm not talking about laying hands and healing people. Why would you said that?! Why would you be so ulgy in a time of saddness. Please pray for me KSBJ, my job descriptions sometimes calls for me to baptist people in the concrete and if I was anywhere near you Anonymous 3/5/13 @ 9:01AM.... Losing Susan is a so sad. I always looked forward to hearing her fun, loving GOD lifting voice every morning. I hate that the goodbye was so sudden, and that it didn't come from her. I understand that it would have been too hard for her to say goodbye, again. I will truly miss you, Ms. Susan. I apologize for the idiots comment above but evil walks among us and turning the other cheeks is sometimes too hard....Nevertheless, I hate that I never got the opportunity to meet you but I pray that you are where GOD's Will has preordained you to be. GOD bless, I love you and Jesus loves you so much more.

  2. I think we are all concerned for this beautiful, eloquent and caring person, and pray that her departure is not for medical issues. We all wish she had had the opportunity to "say goodbye" after having been with KSBJ for so many years and had secured the following of thousands of Houston listeners.

    1. It was never said why. But knowing Susan, it would not have happened the way it did on her terms. She is looking for a job so keep her in your prayers. She is missed by so many and I know God will be using her in ways we probably can't imagine at this moment. I know she misses her listeners as much as we miss her.

  9. Susan, you are really missed by those who listened to KSBJ each morning. I can only pray God's richest blessings on you in your future the plans He has for you next. Sorry it took so long for me to realize you were gone, I thought you were in the background doing the program directors work, again I say God Bless in whatever you do.

  10. I always believe in turning a negative into a positive situation. The negative situation is for us listeners that will truly miss Susan O'Donnell at KSBJ. However, they do have a wonderful group of announcers. I love all the DJ's!

The positive situation is for Susan. Only GOD knows what is in store for her. I am sure whatever it is, she will find herself blessed 7 times 7 more thank before. May GOD bless you all!!

  12. As a Christian I'm saddened to see comments like that. If for whatever reason she was not your favorite person then pray for her. I truly was a fan of Susan and also thought she was in the background doing PD work. She was very uplifting and prayed awesome. It seemed she was always connected to her listeners. I will also pray for her and wish her well. I'm saddened to see that her season at KSBJ has ended, but we all know that God does not keep us in one place forever. I'm sure he has something greater for Susan. We love you and miss you Susan, and for you non fans that want to be ugly about it I will pray that God gives you compassion and peace in your life. It's not good to be ugly. God Bless.

  15. I miss Susan. Interestingly, when I first started listening to KSBJ over 12 years ago, I was annoyed by her. But she quickly grew on me! I thoroughly enjoyed her voice and found it a comfort as I got up in the morning to get my routine going. I miss you Susan!

  16. Susan, I wish and pray that you get to read all these wonderful comments about your personality. My mornings driving to my job has not been the same since you left. I still enjoy the music, but you always had very special words or messages for all of us that really touched our hearts.
