Newsradio 740 KTRH announced today that Shara Fryer will join its news team, effective Tuesday, September 4, 2012. Fryer will anchor Houston's Morning News with Matt Patrick from 5-8:00 a.m.
Fryer spent more than 25 years working in broadcast television at ABC 13 (KTRK), where she covered stories from Houston and around the globe. She is also an award winning journalist, conducting interviews with presidents, foreign heads of state, well known Texans and national and international celebrities. Fryer currently serves as Director of the World Affairs Council of Houston. As a cancer survivor, she devotes much of her time to various cancer outreach programs and established the Shara Fryer Cancer Research Fund in the Department of Surgical Oncology at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
"Shara is a pro with an incredible reputation and we are fortunate to have her join our talented team at KTRH," said Eddie Martiny, President and Market Manager, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Houston. "Over 25 years of major market broadcast excellence combined with her commitment to numerous charities in Houston make Shara the perfect choice for mornings on KTRH. This further proves KTRH's commitment to serving Houston with the most up to date news and information."
"I'm excited by the energy and raw spirit of radio. It's a brand new world for me and I see Clear Channel with iHeartRadio as an innovator for a new future of broadcasting," said Fryer.
