Randall Newsome is returning home to Houston as the new Weekend Anchor/Reporter at FOX 26 KRIV.
Newsome takes over for longtime weekend anchor Tom Zizka, who retired this past summer.
The hire marks a homecoming for Newsome, who was born in Houston, raised in Fort Worth and graduated from Texas Southern University.
Newsome joins FOX 26 from Baltimore, where he spent nearly four years as a morning news anchor at WMAR-TV, co-anchoring Good Morning Maryland. He joined the station in January 2023 and remained there through September 2026.
Before moving to Baltimore, Newsome spent more than four years at WISH-TV in Indianapolis. He worked as a reporter and host, contributing to the station's "All Indiana" at 4 p.m. and "Life Style Live!" at 10 a.m.
During his time in Indianapolis, Newsome developed Gr8 Comeback, a segment that grew into a series highlighting and supporting local businesses.
Newsome began his professional television career at KTVE/KARD in Monroe, Louisiana, in November 2016. He worked there as a multimedia journalist for more than two years.
His path into journalism began as a student-athlete in Texas, where he developed an interest in storytelling and initially considered a career in sports broadcasting. After earning a master's degree in specialized journalism, with an emphasis on sports journalism, from the University of Southern California in 2016, he discovered a broader interest in telling stories about people and communities.
Newsome also gained early experience in Houston as a 2012 sports intern at ABC13 KTRK.
He earned his bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from Texas Southern University in 2012. While at TSU, he was involved with the Thomas Freeman Honors College and university football program.
