Kevin Roth is making a full-time commitment to ABC13 Houston KTRK after spending more than six years with the station as a part-time meteorologist.
Roth announced the news on Facebook, explaining that he had maintained a separate full-time job for most of his tenure at ABC13. That arrangement changes this week as he transitions into a full-time position with the Houston ABC-owned station.
"I've accepted a full-time position right here at ABC13," Roth shared. "I love this job, I love this place. It brings me joy. Hopefully now I can bring a little more of that joy to your TV going forward."
His weekend morning weathercasts will remain unchanged, but viewers can expect to see him more frequently on weekday newscasts. Roth says he will occasionally fill in for morning meteorologist Elita Loresca, as well as appear on the station's 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. newscasts and streaming programs.
"What most people may only suspect, we know for sure. Not only is Kevin a great meteorologist on TV, he's also an outstanding human being off camera!" ABC13 Chief Meteorologist Travis Herzog posted. "We're grateful to have you and thrilled to see you in the office more often!"
"Having Kevin around more is great for two reasons: he represents our continued investment in covering severe weather in the best way possible with the best people possible and he's also a great human being," ABC13 Vice President of News and Digital Keaton Fuchs told mikemcguff.com.
Roth joined the ABC13 weather team in March 2020. Before coming to Houston, he spent nearly five years in the Dallas-Fort Worth market, working as Chief Meteorologist at CW33 KDAF and providing morning weather forecasts for the nationally syndicated EyeOpener TV.
Earlier in his television career, Roth worked as a meteorologist at KSLA-TV in Shreveport, Louisiana, from 2011 to 2013, and WABG-TV in Greenville, Mississippi, from 2010 to 2011.
Roth also carved out a unique niche combining meteorology and sports, providing weather analysis for outlets including The Weather Channel, SiriusXM and MLB Network.
He spent nearly 12 years as Chief Meteorologist at RotoGrinders.com, where he became a familiar name in daily fantasy sports and sports betting communities through his weather forecasts for MLB, NFL and PGA events.
In 2026, he expanded his independent sports-weather work through MySportsWeather.com and OVERcast, a subscription-based tool that offers weather-driven sports analysis.
Roth holds a master's degree in atmospheric science from Mississippi State University and a Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association.
