Max Williams leaves 25 News Now Victoria

Max Williams is departing 25 News Now KAVU Victoria after two years.

"I'm still figuring out that next destination, but I know I'm going to be going back home," Williams said in his on-air 25 News Now goodbye.  "We're there to Ohio, born and raised in Columbus, so at least spend some time with friends and family for a little bit and then trying to just go from there."

Williams joined KAVU, a Morgan Murphy Media station, in June 2024 as Sports Director, overseeing the department’s sports coverage while serving as the station’s on-air sports anchor. During his time at 25 News Now, he managed local sports content, coordinated coverage efforts, and delivered reporting across the Crossroads region.

He took over for Geno Perez, who left in late 2023.

Before arriving in Texas, Williams built experience across multiple levels of sports broadcasting while attending Avila University in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated magna cum laude in 2024 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication.

At Avila, Williams served as Assistant Director of Broadcasting, providing play-by-play and color commentary for men’s and women’s basketball, soccer, baseball, volleyball, and softball broadcasts. He was also a four-year football player, earned KCAC Scholar-Athlete recognition from 2021 to 2023, and received the DALLAVIS Award for leadership and service.

Williams also expanded his sports media experience as a public address announcer for Kansas City Kansas Community College and as a radio play-by-play announcer for the Ban Johnson Baseball League. In addition, he hosted the “Down to the Minute Podcast,” covering sports and pop culture topics.
