Deborah Ferguson is marking 35 years at NBC 5 KXAS Dallas–Fort Worth.
Ferguson co-anchors NBC 5 Today alongside Laura Harris, airing weekday mornings from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m.
She joined the station in 1991 after launching her journalism career as a reporter and anchor at WBAP Radio in Fort Worth.
Ferguson is a graduate of Texas Christian University. While attending TCU, she interned at NBC 5 and joined the station full-time just a few years later.
She is married to former 820 WBAP sports anchor Steve Lamb.
Throughout her career, Ferguson has earned widespread professional recognition, including a regional Edward R. Murrow Award and a Gracie Award for Outstanding Anchor – News, presented by American Women in Radio and Television. She has also received honors from American Women in Communications, the Association for Women Journalists, the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, the Texas Medical Association, the Dallas Press Club, and the Lone Star EMMY Chapter.
Outside the newsroom, Ferguson is deeply involved in community and charitable events, particularly those focused on empowering girls through education and encouraging students interested in journalism. Her signature passion project is the Foundation for the Young Women’s Leadership Academy of Fort Worth, which supports YWLA—the first all-girls public school in the Fort Worth Independent School District.
