Steve Lamb has not been in his usual 820 WBAP Morning News Dallas—Fort Worth (93.3FM) sports director chair in weeks, and there are lots of questions online.
Turns out that Lamb and anchor Nicole Osei have been removed from the WBAP morning news page.
With a very long tenure, Lamb, AKA "Lambo," has been with WBAP since 1986 when he was hired for a nightly sports talk show called "Sports at 6."
In fact, when Lamb was inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame 2019 class, his intro said that he "lays claim to the title of longest uninterrupted weekday tenure of any radio sports figure in Texas history."
A University of Oklahoma grad, Lamb came to DFW from 930AM WKY Oklahoma City and before that 1230 WBBZ Ponca City, Oklahoma.
According to his bio, Lamb has been honored by the Associated Press, Dallas Press Club, and United Press International.
Lamb is married to NBC 5 Today weekday morning anchor Deborah Ferguson, who has also been asked on her Facebook page about Lamb's whereabouts.
Nicole Osei also has a long tenure with WBAP, starting as an intern in 2002. After working for CBS Radio Texas State Network News and KSWO 7 Lawton, Oklahoma, she returned to WBAP/KLIF in 2016 and was named a morning anchor/reporter in 2017.
In 2023, she added duties as host of the 30-minute weekly show "Impact Texas with Nicole Osei."
Lamb and Osei are most likely involved in the personnel cuts made by WBAP owner Cumulus Media at its stations across the United States. Competitor iHeartMedia has also made personnel cuts recently.
I emailed WBAP management Tuesday night but have not heard back yet.
