Sydney Hernandez left her CBS4 Rio Grade Valley evening anchor position but will stay in the Valley.
Here is a portion of what Hernandez posted:
"Ten years, countless stories, and a lifetime of memories—my time in broadcast journalism has been nothing short of amazing. Being a TV news anchor has shaped me in ways I never expected, and saying goodbye is definitely bittersweet.

Being the evening anchor in my hometown was all I ever wanted and It’s been an honor and a privilege to hold this title. I’ve laughed, I’ve cried (sometimes on air), and I’ve had the honor of sharing stories that truly matter.
From interviewing presidents to covering severe weather, i’ve seen it all, but now I have decided it’s time for a new opportunity.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way—your kindness, trust, and encouragement have meant the world.
To everyone who welcomed me into their homes, thank you for trusting me with your news. May God bless all of you.
This isn’t the end, just a new beginning...and I can’t wait to share what’s next."
Hernandez is a three-time Emmy-nominated and Associated Press Award-winner. In 2018, Hernandez joined the CBS 4 news team as a reporter.
The Palmview, Texas native previously worked as a reporter for KWKT FOX 44 News.
Hernandez attended Texas A&M University–Kingsville, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2015 with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications and a minor in Political Science. From her very first semester, Hernandez made her mark as a field reporter for the university newspaper, The South Texan. By her second semester, she was reporting, editing, and producing for the Javelina Broadcast Network, the campus television station.
Hernandez interned with KOB-TV Albuquerque, New Mexico. She also produced a weekly live-streamed segment, Live from Sydney’s Tailgate, which aired during Javelina football games and served as the lead sideline sports reporter for Javelina Showtime, a coaches’ show that aired on KRIS 6 News Corpus Christi.
Now, that's not the only change coming to the RGV Nexstar Media Group stations. A source tells me that KVEO Vice President and General Manager Jeff Miller is leaving to join sister station KRQE News 13 Albuquerque, New Mexico.
