John Krinjak announced he is leaving his FOX 7 Austin KTBC weekend anchor position for to join Bay Area sister station FOX 2 KTVU San Francisco.

Katie Pratt is filling in on FOX 7 Austin weekends after Krinjak's departure.
"Next month I’ll be starting a new position as a reporter at our sister station KTVU Fox 2 in the Bay Area," Krinjak posted. "I’m excited for this new adventure, but sad to be leaving Austin after 4 1/2 years."
He is not the only Austin TV reporter who has moved to San Francisco. Former KXAN Capitol Correspondent Monica Madden headed west in 2024.
Krinjak joined KTBC FOX 7 Austin in 2020.
Before joining FOX 7 Austin, Krinjak spent three years at WLNE ABC6 in Providence, Rhode Island. There, Krinjak co-anchored the weekday morning newscast "Good Morning Providence" and served as the primary fill-in anchor and occasional producer for "ABC6 News at Noon." He also created the station’s "Rhode Island Eats" and "Southern New England Staycations" franchise segments while also leading political reporting efforts.
Earlier in his career, Krinjak anchored and produced weekend newscasts at WABI TV 5 Bangor, Maine, from 2013 to 2017.
Krinjak holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Psychology from New York University. During his time at NYU, Krinjak anchored and reported for NYU Tonight, a live weekly cable newscast, and participated in NYU’s Journalism Abroad Program in London, where he reported extensively on the UK arts scene.
His journalism career began with a series of high-profile internships with ABC News' "Nightline," NBC's "TODAY" show, and ABC News' Bob Woodruff Unit, assisting with research and production for longer-form stories and supporting the Bob Woodruff Foundation.
