Mark Armstrong joins 12News KBMT Beaumont

Mark Armstrong joins the 12News Daybreak KBMT Beaumont and Midday team as co-anchor with Tia Johnson from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. on Monday, November 25, 2024.

He takes the anchor chair left vacant by Tracy Kennick, who signed off in March 2024.

"I’m thrilled to join the Daybreak team and become part of the Southeast Texas community," Armstrong said in a statement. "Morning news is a chance to set the tone for the day, and I look forward to bringing viewers stories that matter most to them. This region’s rich culture and resilience inspire me, and I can’t wait to get to work."

Armstrong returns to TV news after serving as Chief Communications Officer for Baton Rouge and East Baton Rouge Parish.

The University of Southern Mississippi grad previously worked as a journalist for WBRZ 2 Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and WXXV 25 Gulfport, Mississippi.

"Mark’s experience and dedication to delivering meaningful stories make him a fantastic addition to the Daybreak team," added News Director Ginny Sweeney.  "His background in both journalism and public service adds a unique depth to our coverage. Southeast Texans will quickly see his commitment to this community."
