In October, the KHOU 11 Houston 4:30 a.m. newscast went on hiatus and then returned, but now it looks to have been officially canceled.
The Channel 11 TV schedule now shows a full hour of "CBS News Mornings" from 4 a.m. to 5 a.m., with KHOU newscasts starting at 5 a.m.
This would not be the only recent cut at the TEGNA-owned station.
KHOU joins cross-town rival KPRC 2, which canceled its 4:30 a.m. newscast in January 2023. One might guess that remote jobs are lessening the need for early commuters to wake up, catch up on the news, and hit the freeways before sunrise.
However, FOX 26 KRIV and ABC13 KTRK have the coffee pots running on overtime, as they both offer not only a 4:30 a.m. but also a 4 a.m.!
If I am ever up watching those, then something is seriously wrong.
