Mike Rush leaves KXAN Austin


Mike Rush left his weekday anchor role with KXAN Austin in September 2024.

Rush, an eight-time EMMY winner, joined KXAN in June 2022 as a weekend anchor/consumer investigative reporter.

In January 2024, Rush left weekend anchoring for weekdays to join Jennifer Sanders on an expanded 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. newscast.

Before KXAN, Rush worked as an anchor for cross-town rival KVUE from 2017 to 2021. While at KVUE, Rush swapped anchor roles with Bryan Mays in 2020, moving from evening to mornings. 

Prior to arriving in Austin to work for KVUE, Rush anchored for KSDK NewsChannel 5 St. Louis, Missouri, for six years.


Before KSDK, Rush was:


- Weekend Anchor WPMI Mobile, AL

- General Assignment Reporter WGNO New Orleans, LA 

- Weekend Anchor KPLC Lake Charles, LA 


Rush, a native of Houston, was a Bellaire High School cheerleader

The University of Houston grad interned with FOX 26 KRIV.
