Ed Werder to join WFAA’s coverage of the Dallas Cowboys’ 2024-2025 season

Ed Werder is set to join WFAA 8 Dallas-Fort Worth's sports team, headed by sports anchor Joe Trahan, to cover the Dallas Cowboys for the 2024-2025 season.

“I’m honored and excited for the opportunity to join the talented WFAA team this season as we expand coverage of the Dallas Cowboys in what should prove to be to one of the most fascinating seasons in franchise history,” Werder said. “I look forward to providing coverage on television and online, using my vast experience and institutional knowledge of the Cowboys — combined with trusted relationships formed throughout the NFL — to bring unparalleled reporting depth and unique perspective to our audiences. Having spent the past 32 years in DFW, I know each of my teammates, respect their journalism and the work they do — and look forward to the great things we can accomplish together.”

Werder will be featured on WFAA Daybreak and WFAA News 8 at 5 p.m. on the day after each Cowboys game, providing insights and analysis. He will also deliver updates from the Cowboys’ headquarters at The Star in Frisco every Thursday on WFAA News 8 at 5 p.m.

In addition, Werder will write a weekly column on the Cowboys, which will be published every Tuesday on WFAA.com. A weekly news-and-notes report, featuring the latest information on the team, will also be available on the website each Thursday.

Werder brings extensive experience to WFAA, having served as an ESPN NFL Insider and reporter for 26 years, with a focus on covering the Cowboys for programs like SportsCenter, NFL Live, NFL Sunday Countdown, and Monday Night Countdown.

Before ESPN, Werder worked as an NFL reporter for CNNSI, was a correspondent for Sports Illustrated, and covered the Cowboys for both the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in 1989 and the Dallas Morning News from 1992 to 1996.
