Shawna Currie returned to 25 News Now Victoria on August 26, 2024, as the 5 p.m. solo anchor and co-anchor of the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts with Don Brubaker.
Former evening anchor Karina Garcia recently left KAVU for a TV job in Virginia.
Currie began her television news career with KAVU in November 2001 as a production staff member.
The Texas State University grad joined the news department in 2003 as an assignment editor before being promoted to reporter and morning anchor.
In August 2014, she left to pursue marketing/communications/recruiting roles, including the Victoria Independent School District.
