KPRC 2 Houston announced that morning meteorologist Anthony Yanez will become the new evening and chief meteorologist, taking over for the retiring Frank Billingsley.

Yanez joined KPRC on July 15, 2003, from KRQE 13/KASA FOX 2 Albuquerque, NM. His first day on the air was Hurricane Claudette coverage.
In 2015, he left for KNBC Los Angeles to be the noon and 5pm meteorologist, where he worked with Daniella Guzman before she returned to Houston.
Yanez returned to KPRC mornings in 2021 when Britta Merwin left for FOX Weather.
With more than 25 years of broadcast news experience, Yanez holds seals of approval from the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and the National Weather Association (NWA). The Radio & Television News Association of Southern California awarded him the 2020 Best Weathercast.
I received many questions about whether Yanez would take over for Frank. The audience expected this. So, who will take over for Yanez? I have my idea, and that staple weighs a ton.
We all know that Billingsley was the most experienced meteorologist in the market, so now that he is leaving, KHOU 11 is already making its marketing move (SEE BELOW).
Starting Monday I'm turning off my 1:45AM alarm and sleeping in. I'm now working nights at @KPRC2 as the new Chief Meteorologist. And I do mean it when I say I'm going to miss working with @KPRC2Frank. #HoustonWeather #Houston pic.twitter.com/QNclUQvdXa
