Markeshia Jackson joins WAVY 10 Norfolk, VA

Markeshia Jackson left KFDX 3 Wichita Falls, where she was an anchor/reporter, to join Nexstar Media Group's sister station, WAVY 10 Norfolk, Virginia, as a reporter. Her last day was May 23, 2024.

Here is a portion of what Jackson posted to Facebook:

"Where do I even begin on how much Wichita Falls and its surrounding areas mean to me?

I came here a 21 year old fresh out of college in the heat of summer lol. I had days where I wasn’t even sure if reporting was for me. But I kept my faith in God and you all kept your faith in me. I’ve gotten to do things I never even dreamed I’d be able to do here and I’m forever grateful.

Thank you for trusting me, thank you for loving me. Being more than 13 hours away from family was so hard but there was never a moment that I felt like I didn’t have family and loved ones here. You’ve all become my family.

I can only pray that the next stop in my career affords me the amazing experiences like I’ve gotten at this incredible & talented station and city."

Jackson publicly addressed sad moments during her time with the KFDX, such as the deaths of weekend anchor Shatanya Clarke and news director Adam Bradshaw.

On a lighter note, she did chronicle the time a snake came into the newsroom. If Jackson were heading to Houston, a raccoon might have been in her newsroom one day.

For serious stories, she reported on former groundbreaking KFDZ reporter Martha Iglehart.

The Xavier University grad joined KFDX in June 2021.

She interned with CBS News in New York and FOX19 WXIX in Cincinnati, Ohio.
