Dominique Sachse's announcement that she is moving to Dallas for a new job has been one of the top stories in Houston this week.
UPDATE JANUARY 25, 2024
Dominique Sachse joins Dr. Phil network with Kris Gutierrez (look below, I called this!)
Think I'm joking? After I posted the news, The Houston Chronicle wrote four stories about her leaving. Seriously. No current Houston anchor gets that kind of mainstream press and never will again unless a crime is committed.
Sachse did not say where or what she will be doing in North Texas, but her loyal fans want to know if television is a part of the move up I-45.
Oddly enough, recently, Sachse's former KPRC co-anchor Kris Gutierrez, who has been in the Metroplex since leaving channel 2, also said he is starting "new opportunities" with an Instagram image reading "Back on air?"
Naturally, this has the Sachse-ites wondering if Dominique and Kris are getting the band back together, so to speak.
As I cover DFW TV on this blog, I have not heard of an anchor team opening at one of the stations, but there are more than local TV news jobs up there.
The peacock network has a national multicast channel, NBC LX, originating from KXAS.
CBS has its national innovation lab at KTVT.
And Dr. Phil's Merit Street Media is launching a cable channel based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area on February 26, 2024.
Stay tuned. Sachse and Gutierrez promise whatever they are doing (together or separately) will be announced shortly.
