Anthony Franze has left his NewsWest 9 KWES Odessa, Texas chief meteorologist position and moved his skills to the newspaper world to the San Antonio Express-News as of July 2023.
"This was not an easy decision to make because West Texas has given me so much in the last five years," Franze tweeted. "I've been able to live out my DREAM of becoming a Chief Meteorologist. This job is just so cool, man. I've worked with amazing coworkers here at News 'Best' 9. Many of them will be friends for life. And I've been fortunate enough to be accepted as part of this community here in WTX. I appreciate y'all supporting me through it all...words can't describe how much it's meant to me."
Franze joined KWES in June 2018 from NBC Montana KECI Missoula where he was weekend meteorologist.
The Gunter, TX native (north of Dallas) earned a B.S. in meteorology from Valparaiso University.
