Matt Houston is leaving his KENS 5 San Antonio reporting gig and heading to TEGNA sister-station WFAA 8 Dallas Fort Worth.
"Two years ago, [Matt Houston] was holding one of his six Emmys while wrapping up his time WAFB," tweeted proud dad Bryan Houston. "Two years at KENS 5 and now he’s on his way to WFAA!! 'Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.'"
I love how Matt's father Bryan Houston quotes Ferris Bueller!
When it comes to awards, Matt now has three Murrow Awards and six Lone Star EMMY awards to his name according to his Twitter bio.
As I wrote back when Matt Houston joined KENS 5 from WAFB Channel 9 Baton Rouge, LA in 2021, his dad Bryan Houston is a famous name in East Texas. He's been a sports anchor for KTRE, anchor and assistant news director for KETK, morning anchor for KLTV and morning/5pm anchor for KYTX. Clearly Houston is known in Tyler.
And speaking of Houston, why couldn't have Matt gotten a new gig with KHOU 11 Houston? "Reporting live from downtown Houston, Matt Houston, KHOU 11 News Stands for Houston" has a nice ring to it...right?
Oh, and if "Matt Houston" sounds familiar, it was a TV show on ABC in the early 1980s.
Houston is a Louisiana State University grad.
So grateful for the people who’ve surrounded me for two years now. On to @WFAA. https://t.co/ebs2C4W3D0
