David Paul explains on-air nose bandage

David Paul

David Paul took to Twitter to explain why he is wearing a bandage on his nose for the next week while delivering the weather on KHOU 11 Houston.

"That is because I had to have a skin cancer removed from my nose.

It's something called a Basal Cell Carcinoma. Now, this is the most common type of skin cancer. Millions of people are diagnosed with this every year. And it's also the most treatable.

But to treat it, you've got to get rid of it. It means you have to get in there and cut it out. And so that's what they did. And I've got stitches in my nose.

And given enough time, though, this is all going to heal up and you'll never know what even happened."

The chief meteorologist encourages all of us to see a dermatologist at least once a year and wear sunscreen.

Glad Paul got checked out and everything will be OK.

Makes me miss the days when his biggest problems were hiccups or an accidental haircut!

Paul just celebrated 25 years with channel 11.

After serving as the station's morning meteorologist for many years, Paul was named chief meteorologist in 2013.
