The KXAN Austin weekend morning newscast is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2022.
Maggie Glynn, along with meteorologist Rich Segal who also worked at KXAN in the mid-90s himself, were joined by the station's first weekend morning team, Russ Rhea and Julia Hilder.
"It was the first weekend morning show in Central Texas, it was the first two hour show and at the time we thought, 'how in the world are we going to be able to fill two hours on the weekend,'" Rhea said on air.
It was noted that the KXAN Weekend Gardener, John Dromgoole, who is still on the air, was on air back then too.
Hilder left KXAN in 1998, Rhea in 2000.
Today, both Rhea and Hilder still work together, but now at the Predictive Media Network in the Austin area.
