Kayler Smith is joining ABC Big News 2 KMID Midland-Odessa as sports director starting in June 2022.
Here is what Smith posted on Facebook:
"It’s official y’all! I’m so very ecstatic to announce that I have accepted a position as the Sports Director of ABC Big 2 News in Midland-Odessa, TX, the home of Friday Night Lights!
I’m so blessed to have the opportunity to live my dream of both becoming a Texan and covering sports for a living! Thank you to everyone who has taught and supported me along the way, especially my parents, grandparents, and Ben Arnet!"
Kayler Smith, a student at the University of Missouri School of Journalism, has been a sports reporter/anchor for the school's KOMU 8 News.
She has also worked for the school's MUTV 23 as Sports Digital Director.
