Texas TV stations are earning lots of honors as of late.
Here is a rundown.
CW39 KIAH announced it has Houston’s most accurate daily weather forecast through WeatheRate. I checked the WeatheRate site and found that for English-language broadcasters, Texas stations on the list include NBC 5 KXAS DFW, News 4 San Antonio WOAI and FOX 44 KWKT Waco/Temple/Killeen. For Spanish-language television markets, the certified TV stations are Telemundo Dallas KXTX, Telemundo Houston KTMD, Telemundo San Antonio KVDA and Telemundo El Paso KTDO.
KPRC 2 morning meteorologist Anthony Yanez was given the award for excellence in science reporting by a broadcast meteorologist from the American Meteorological Society. ABC News Chief Meteorologist and Good Morning America host Ginger Zee was the award's presenter.
FOX 26 KRIV announced reporter Randy Wallace received the first-ever ‘Journalist of the Year’ award from the Houston Police Officers' Union for the Breaking Bond series.
NewsGuard, a media literacy tool, announced its "Top 10 Trusted Local News Sites." Texas sites on the NewsGuard list included DallasNews.com, KHOU.com Houston and KSAT.com San Antonio.
