Hunter Williams

Hunter Williams is joining the KVUE Daybreak weekday morning newscast as its meteorologist from weekend evenings.

"Couldn’t be more excited to join the Daybreak team," Williams posted to Facebook.  "I think it’s time for Wake Up Weather part 2!"

Before Williams starts the KVUE AM weather shift in March 2022, he will be filling-in evenings for chief meteorologist Erika Lopez who is on maternity leave.

“It was such a pleasure promoting Hunter and bringing him on to KVUE’s Daybreak team,” said KVUE News Director Christina Ginn on the station's website. "This promotion deepens our roster of an already strong and experienced team."

Williams joins the newish team of Yvonne Nava, Rob Evans and traffic anchor Hannah Rucker. He replaces meteorologist Mariel Ruiz who left KVUE in late 2021 to joins WFAA 8 Dallas

He joined KVUE Austin in January 2020 from TEGNA sister-station WMAZ Macon, Georgia.

The native of Alabama got his start as a Weekend/Fill-In Weather Anchor at WVUA 23 Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He also was a radio weather forecaster for Rock 105.9 FM WKLS Anniston, Alabama.

A Penn State University grad, Williams interned at FOX6 News WBRC and ABC 33/40 WBMA both of which are in Birmingham, Alabama.

He has earned his Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation from the American Meteorological Society.
