Tony Canales, Telemundo Houston KTMD president and general manager, is expanding his role to also lead KASA 2 Telemundo Nuevo México in Albuquerque.
NBCUniversal just purchased the station Monday from Ramar Communications which includes four full power stations, one Class A station, three low power stations and 20 associated [or multiple] translator stations that are assigned to the Albuquerque DMA.
Canales will be hiring news staff to launch local news serving Spanish-speakers in the Albuquerque television market.
Vice President of Sales for Telemundo Houston KTMD, Patricia Buchanan, is also expanding her duties to oversee all local sales activities for KASA.
With this purchase, the local division of NBCUniversal now includes NBC stations in 12 markets, Telemundo stations in 31 markets, 1 MeTV station, six Regional Sports Networks and multicast networks COZI TV, TeleXitos and NBCLX.
