KSAT's Jessie Degollado gives advice to aspiring journalists

KSAT 12 reporter Jessie Degollado gives advice to young journalists in two videos (embedded in this post).

“It was curiosity and my love for the written word, combined to become my desire to be a reporter,” Jessie Degollado said in a KSAT 12 report.

The Laredo, Texas native began her broadcast journalism degree at KRGV in the Rio Grande Valley after graduating from Baylor University in 1972.  

Degollado joined KSAT in 1984 as a general assignments reporter.  

According to her bio, throughout her career, Degollado has been honored with:

- An Associated Press in 1995

- Induction into San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame in 2007

- The Outstanding Alumna Award from the Baylor University Journalism Department in 2014

- The Henry Guerra Lifetime Achievement Award from the San Antonio Association of Hispanic Journalists in 2012

- The International Humanitarian Service Award from Mujeres Hispanas Por Mejor Justicia in 2011 

- The Alegre Award from Norteno Radio in 2016
