Maggie Flecknoe is engaged

Maggie Flecknoe of CW39 KIAH's morning newscast NO WAIT WEATHER + TRAFFIC is engaged!

"There was some breaking good news at the end of 2020, I said 'Yes', to my boyfriend of over a year, Jeff," Flecknoe told mikemcguff.com.  "We were able to safely escape to Tulum, where he proposed during a romantic dinner on the beach. I was completely surprised!"

Family members of Flecknoe and her new fiancé are both in Houston and the couple are already in the midst of planning a November wedding during a pandemic.

Fleckoe the survivor

The anchor-reporter has proven that she is a survivor.

Not only has she worked for channel 39 since before NewsFix debuted in 2011, but she also recovered from a terrible car wreck in 2016 that occurred one early morning on her way to work.

TV news and then time in the anime voice-over booth

Flecknoe might be the only person in Houston TV news to have their own global fan club.  For more than a decade, she has acted in numerous anime voice overs - some English re-dubs, others original productions

"I don't drink coffee, it's terrible for your vocal cords," Flecknoe told me in an interview in 2018. "So, I do the lemon tea on set."

While she was honored for her for work as Yukari Yukino in "The Garden of Words" at the 2nd Annual BTVA Anime Dub Awards, Flecknoe believes her acting as Saya Takagi in "High School of the Dead" was her breakthrough performance.

So whether she is working as a TV anchor or voice-over actress, Flecknoe just hopes that COVID-19 is going away soon.

"Praying things are better with the pandemic," she added. "I love to report on a good love story, and feel blessed to share my own."
