Houston dance music broadcasts still live on weekends

Houston Radio Platinum's Gary Mac (96.1 KIOX El Campo, 99.9 KSHN Liberty, 92.5 KKHA Bay City) lets us know that Houston still has a club mix on the weekend after my recent post about 104.1 KRBE Saturday night dance mix The Beat!

Head over to houstonradioplatinum.com on Friday nights to hear Mac host the "Friday Night Powerhits," a high energy dance show show from 7pm to 9pm.

"Bringing back all the club trax that we heard back then, on KKBQ, KRBE, KNRJ and the likes from the late 1980's till early 90's,' Mac told mikemcguff.com.  "I've hosted this show since last September.  You will hear a familiar voice to some, the liners throughout the 2 hour show is that of Mark Landis (original 93Q KKBQ Top 40 format producer/imaging director)."

In writing this post, I also ran across a website devoted to the old 93Q where you can listen to Club 6400 broadcasts and other archives from the former Top 40 Houston station.

But wait...there's more from the HRP team!

On Saturday night, the "Saturday Night Block Party," hosted by the Houston Radio Platinum team, runs from 9pm to 2am.  This show features upbeat, feel good, get down dance tunes (with a disco lean) from the 60's, 70's and 80's.

The Saturday night show came from the mind of legendary Houston DJ Johnny Goyen (KFMK, KRBE, KYOK, KIKK) when he was working for the Houston streaming station.

Houston Radio Platinum launched in May 2019 featuring soft rock hits of the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. In July 2020, the station switched from soft rock to the classic hits format
