Ivory Hecker returns to FOX 26 after father's death

Hecker on Instagram: "This has been the most excruciating week of my life."

FOX 26 KRIV reporter Ivory Hecker returned to work this week after the death of her father.

Nathan Hecker, age 56, died, not from coronavirus, but an apparent logging accident.

Hecker left a touching tribute to her dad on Instagram.

"The hero of my life! I love you forever, Daddy. ❤️ He died with his boots on. How blessed I was to be born to the most honorable man I’ve ever met. The peaceful warrior. The purest heart. His 12 children were his pride and joy. His wife was his soul mate. After 34 years of marriage, they were still smitten by each other until the day he died. They were supposed to go to 70 years of marriage and die in each other’s arms, but a logging accident on Monday changed everything. (The second slide is the day before he died.) My heart aches. He was the perfect dad. He’s left his body, but he’s still with us, watching over us, proud of us. I love him forever. Nathan Phillip Hecker, the man of truth, courage, sincerity, and goodness. We buried him today—just us kids, my mom, Grandpa and Pastor Heath. Coronavirus regulations prevented a crowd, but that didn’t stop the crowd from honoring my dad. Hundreds of cars drove past the grave site in a procession. Log trucks drove by honking in his honor. That meant so so much to us to see all the people who love our dad as much as we do. I’m happy you are free and at peace now, Daddy, but I’ll sure miss you. ❤️

A gofundme account has been set up for the family.
