KIII Corpus Christi names Nia Towne news director


CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas. (May 23, 2019) – KIII-TV, the consistently top-rated news station in South Texas, announced today that Nia Towne will take the helm of the growing and dynamic newsroom of 3News.

Towne brings her substantial background of developing advocacy-based and distinctive content to the KIII newsroom. Her work has been recognized with several awards for journalism excellence and investigative reporting.

Most recently, Towne was Managing Editor and Digital Media Manager for CBS21 News in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Additionally, Towne oversaw digital aspects of news operations for CNYCENTRAL in New York and Interactive Content Producer for News10 in Southern Oregon.

“Nia is a champion of innovative journalism designed for today’s consumer” said Bruce Cummings, KIII President and General Manager. “Her valuable expertise in creating multi-platform content will help us continue to reach and serve the people of South Texas.”

When asked about her first focus, Towne added, “the Texas Gulf Coast is undoubtedly a special place and I plan to immerse myself in understanding our South Texas neighbors and viewers and how KIII can best meet their needs.
