KHOU 11's Melissa Correa opens up about her mental health


After the suicides of both designer Kate Spade and celebrity chef/TV host Anthony Bourdain, members of the media are sharing their emotional struggles.

In Houston, KHOU 11 reporter Melissa Correa shared her brave story about how Bourdain's untimely death sent her into a spiral of depression. The event led her to take to Facebook to share her story of depression since college and how covering the daily news can weigh on her soul.

The good news, Correa also talked on how she has been improving her situation with therapy.

Based on her Facebook video and the support from viewers, the station had Correa talk about mental health on air. She encourages everyone to share their stories using the hashtag #SharingIsCaring.
