Early this summer, I blogged about anchor Univison 45 KXLN anchor-reporter Rebecca Suárez re-joining HISD as the district’s new chief communications officer.
Now as you are watching fireworks and eating hot dogs, you can gather around the grill and talk about another Houston TV journo jumping over to the education PIO world.
Turns out KTRK abc13 reporter/multi-media journalist Tracy Clemons is also joining the Houston Independent School District as the district's public information officer.
“Being a reporter was my dream since I was 10," Clemons told mikemcguff.com. "I can say I lived that dream. Walking away is bittersweet, but the chance to tell HISD’s story every day is an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. It’s been a joy being part of one of the best news teams in America at ABC13, but I look forward to this new chapter.”
Clemons joined KTRK back in 2014 from St. Louis' KSDK. He previously worked at KSLA Shreveport as a reporter/anchor.
He is a graduate of the University of Virginia and the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland where he earned a masters degree in broadcast journalism.
